Houses of Darkness
The seven Celestial Houses created by God defined the
duties and the powers of each angel within them, refining their individual natures and shaping their identity within a rigidly
structured hierarchy. There was no allowance for promotion or demotion. The duties of each angel never varied, and the Elohim
were content in their duties as the cosmos took shape, expecting nothing more than what the Creator gave them.
When the rebel angels broke from their brethren, their
identity as members of a specific House remained as strong as ever, and in short order, the fallen re-established the hierarchy
that had been lost, restoring the sense of focus and function that the angels craved. Forcing the fallen to reject any ties
to their House, no matter how desperate the situation, was simply inconceivable.
Namaru: The Devils
Once belonging to the House of the Dawn and serving
as God’s heralds to the rest of the heavenly host, the Devils were the standard bearers of the Creator’s will
and the champions of humanity. Now they use their charisma and powers of persuasion to twist mortal and immortal minds alike
to serve their own agendas.
Asharu: The Scourges
These former angels of the firmament were given the
task of directing the winds and carrying the life-giving breath of God to those whom the Creator deemed worthy. Now the Scourges
are the bearers of plague and pestilence, their passage swift and unseen but their punishment cruel and lingering. Depending
on their whim, they can heal or poison with a touch.
Annunaki: The Malefactors
The Malefactors are the artisans among the fallen,
once given charge of the earth and all that lies within it. These demons are cunning, patient and thoughtful, using their
powers of creation to turn the most mundane items into wondrous gifts that ultimately corrupt the recipient.
Neberu: The Fiends
The Fiends directed the course of the sun, moon and
stars. They were the bearers of the complex patterns that governed the tides, seasons and portents of Heaven. Where they were
once oracles dispensing wisdom and warnings, they are now the masters of nightmares and curses.
Lammasu: The Defilers
The Defilers are seducers, ever-changing, always alluring.
They once held dominion over the oceans, and can alter their appearance like quicksilver, taking the form of a victim’s
greatest desire. They can manipulate not only their bodies, but others’ as well, granting glorious beauty in place of
ugliness, but always at a price.
Rabisu: The Devourers
Devourers are the warriors among the fallen, given
charge of the beasts of the wilderness and infused with the nature of the predator. They are fierce and impulsive by course,
favoring action over long-winded discussion. They incite, ravage, annihilate and move on.
Halaku: The Slayers
After God created man and woman he returned to Heaven,
his labors complete – leaving death and decay to follow in his wake. The Slayers were the angels of mortality, tending
to those who had passed. Now they’re masters of spirit who can raise ghosts, reap souls from living bodies or trap them
in vessels of their infernal choosing.
